Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass- Whipped Cream & Other Delights
Ambrosia- Life Beyond L.A.
This Herb Alpert record is a lot of fun. All instrumental mix of Jazz and Mariachi. All the songs on this album are similar yet different. Good record to put on at a party. I'll have to keep an eye out for more Herb Alpert records.
Ok, Ambrosia. Yes, I like them. And I'll have another one to listen to tonight. This record came out in 1978 when they were still more of a prog rock band. You can kind of throw them in the same category as Alan Parsons Project.
I know it's easy to make fun of this band, mainly because their name is terrible, but how many of you have really listened to them? A lot of their stuff really is experimental. It's the "hits" that make them fall in the soft rock category. For the record, I have played them quite a bit at home in the past, and my girlfriend can't stand it when I do. Ha!
Life Beyond L.A. I guess would be the album though when they started becoming "softer". It's still a cool album though. The song most people will recognize is "How Much I Feel". Good tune, but my favorite cut on this album is "Angola". Really do need to get my hands on their first two records. I'm sure since they are a band that's easy to make fun of, I'll find them for a buck or less. Cool with me. Very Underrated Band.
