Band of Horses- Infinite Arms
Just a slight backtrack since I already listened to the Bangles and one of the Beatles records. My buddy just gave me this today, and I'm pretty happy to be listening to it. I've played it a few times in the store, and have been meaning to buy it, so it's super cool that he came through for me.
Band of Horses were one of those bands for me that I always dug, but never owned any of their stuff. Not sure why, just oversight on my part I guess. That being said, I guess I can't say this is their best album, but I know it's a record that I'll listen to repeatedly. As I'm typing this, "Laredo" is on. This song might be my pick for song of the year. But then I get to Side 2, and "Dilly" comes on. Damn, that shit rules too!
It's kinda funny listening to a record that came out in 2010 that is a single LP with 13 songs on it. The majority of my records are from the 70's and 80's (by choice) and I get used to albums not having more than 10 cuts on it and lasting 40 minutes or so. But I'm not complaining when it comes to this record.
I'll obviously be keeping up with my blog over the next 30 days, but this one will get tons of repeat listens over the next month that I won't mention on here. Can't wait to see them now at the Austin City Limits Festival in October.
Change of subject, I thought I'd tell you about the Asia show tonight since I've mentioned it a couple of other times on here. It was a lot better than I thought it would be. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Pretty amazing that Steve Howe is 63 years old and still rules. And John Wetton still has those golden pipes! But the highlight might have been Carl Palmer's drum solo. I usually find drum solos as an excuse to go to the bathroom, but man, he was incredible. Best drum solo I've seen live this side of Neil Peart.
Back to the Beatles tomorrow. One last note about the Band of Horses album, go buy it. Now!
