Tommy Bolin- Private Eyes
Man, what a guitar player. You gotta be in order to replace Ritchie Blackmore in Deep Purple right? Such a shame he had to die so young at 25. I really wonder if he would have become a household name ala Clapton if he'd stuck around.
I've listened to this album a few times since getting it. It's not a great record by any means, but you could hear the potential that was starting to form as a songwriter and vocalist. I've mainly listened to this a few times for his guitar playing. Dude really was incredible.
But I also dude how this album has that typical 70's vibe. Some tunes are r&b, some tunes are rockers, some tunes sound like soft rock jams. But it all comes together really well.
I found this record for a buck and I'm sure you can too. It's weird though that I haven't come across his first album Teaser anywhere yet though.
