Day 56

Soundtrack- The Breakfast Club

I think the idea of owning this record is cooler than it really is. Maybe because the movie is so good, you expect the soundtrack to match, but really all you have is the Simple Minds tune everyone knows and a bunch of crap.
Is it just me or did Elizabeth Daily a.k.a. E.G. Daily end up on every teen comedy soundtrack in the 80's? There is a reason why her music career never took off. She blows. The only other big name band on here is Wang Chung. That song sucks too. Then you have a bunch of no names like Jesse Johnson, Karla Devito, and Joyce Kennedy. I hope the latter three thank John Hughes everyday for putting them on the soundtrack. There are also 4 instrumentals and they aren't too bad. Mostly it brings back memories of a scene from the movie.
I'm sitting here listening to this and debating whether I should keep it. Right now, I'm leaning towards yes until I get some Simple Minds on vinyl with "Don't You (Forget About Me)" on it. I won't ever put this record on again other than that one tune.
Here's an Elizabeth "EG" Daily video. Not from this album, but her big "hit" back in the 80's.

  3. I think Jesse Johnson might thank Prince for his music career more than John Hughes. Definitely not a good record though.

  5. Yeah, I have that soundtrack, I think I inherited it long ago in a break-up. Never listen to it though. Honestly, the only reason I even like the Simple Minds song is because it reminds me of the movie.
