Creedence Clearwater Revival- Bayou Country
Milestone Alert! Day 100! I think I've reached that point where casual readers will be like, "Oh, he's still doing that?" Ha!
And that's fine. I think it's awesome that this blog has gotten hits from all over the world, but I'm doing this for myself. I'm still having a great time doing it and I'll be one proud boy if I can keep it going all the way to ZZ Top. I just don't even want to begin to think how many years away that is from now. I'm sure I've said this before, but "1000" is just a nice round number for a website address. I'll be going way past that.
So on to Bayou Country. Great, great album by a great, great band. Wish I could have started off with their debut, but unfortunately I only have two of their albums on vinyl. Kinda nuts that they put out 7 studio albums in 4 years.
While I was driving home tonight, I had "Born On The Bayou" in my head and began to think, "damn, that song is metal". Seriously. Compare Creedence to someone like Alice Cooper and it's easy to hear that they are a way heavier band. Funny that when the conversation comes up of who started the "heavy metal" sound, CCR never come up. Most people refer to them as "roots rock", "southern rock", or "swamp rock". I don't get that at all. Hell, just listen to "Keep On Chooglin" on this album to understand what I'm talking about.
Ok on another note, a few weeks ago I promised a prize to one lucky person if they signed up to be a follower on this blog. And that person is Greg. Greg, I'll be in touch to give you a few choices of 7 inchers to choose from.
I'd like to keep giving away stuff, so please follow my blog if you are an invisible reader!
