Day 92

Nat King Cole- L-O-V-E

I listened to this album when I got home from work today, but I'm just now getting to writing about it 5 hours later while I listen to the new Orb featuring David Gilmour record. Really good stuff.

Anyhow, Nat King Cole to me is like Patsy Cline in the sense that I wouldn't be able to comprehend how anyone would not like him. It's just good music. Jessica came home after me while this record was on and she went straight into the record room to see what was playing. It was obvious that she was happy to come home to a sweet sounding record. Shit just puts you in a good mood.

Maybe I should play it again since I'm bummed the Rangers lost. Pitch around Renteria, Cliff Lee! Ugh.

I can't complain too much though. It was an outstanding season and I couldn't be more proud to call myself a fan of the Texas Rangers. This team is built to contend for the foreseeable future. With or without Cliff Lee. If he bails, I hope the Rangers get on the phone with Kansas City and ask about Zack Greinke. I love C.J. Wilson and Colby Lewis, but we need at least one more dynamic arm in the rotation. Hopefully Derek Holland will blossom too.

Ok, enough sports talk. This is a music blog right? I think I've said all I need to say about Nat King Cole. Everyone knows who he is and everyone should have at least one of his records in their collection.

Since everyone knows the song "L-O-V-E" and that I'm also half Japanese, here is a clip of Nat doing this song in Japanese. Pretty impressive.

  1. Interesting that you mention the World Series in this blog as Nat King Cole would have been a baseball star had his music career not taken off.
He was scouted by the Negro Leagues before he had his first big recording break.
