I wasn't into Fastway as much as I should have been when this album first came out in 1983. I dug the tune, "Say You Will" a lot, but I was only 10 and 10 year olds don't have much money to buy albums with. Plus that was the year of Pyromania so who had time for anything else?
Listening to this album now, it's kind of funny that they get categorized as a "metal" band. They are about as metal as AC/DC which means that they are just a loud rock n' roll band. Slade actually comes to mind while listening to this record.
So a little history on this band. They were supposed to be a supergroup of sorts with Fast Eddie Clarke from Motorhead on guitar and Pete Way from UFO on bass. Hence, the name Fastway. But Pete Way went on to play with Ozzy instead so he's not even on this album. Jerry Shirley from Humble Pie is on drums and a very young Dave King is on lead vocals. You may know him know as the frontman for Flogging Molly. Which is funny to me for some reason. And that's not a knock against Flogging Molly.
Ok, fun listen. I'll be on the lookout for the second album, All Fired Up.
