Day 264

Iron Maiden- Piece Of Mind

This is probably my favorite Iron Maiden record. It was a tough call between this and Powerslave. The British metal magazine, Kerrang! even listed this as the greatest metal album of all time. I guess that's debatable, but I'm having a hard time thinking what album might be better. Maybe Master of Puppets. Oh crap, now I want to listen to that album.

But for now, I'll keep this post about Maiden. A lot of times, I'll catch myself humming the opening riff to "The Trooper" for no reason. It just pops out of my mouth. It happens at random places too. It is one of the coolest opening riffs in all of music, not just metal.

"The Trooper" isn't even my favorite song on this record. That honor goes to "Die With Your Boots On". And of course there's "Where Eagles Dare" and "Flight of Icarus" on this record too. Just too damn good. Also, let's not forget that this was the first Iron Maiden record with Nicko McBrain behind the drum kit.

Man, the outfits these dudes are wearing in this video is hysterical. Maiden fail.
