Days 253-254

Ian Hunter- Ian Hunter & All Of The Good Ones Are Taken

I have a pretty good reason for not posting since Thursday. That night, I had a softball game and made a bit of an awkward head first slide at home plate which in the process sliced open a deep gash in my right knee. I had to get three staples put in Friday morning. Pretty awesome!

Not only that, but I had my left middle finger checked out that I thought I just jammed a few weeks ago, but it turns out I tore some cartilage. And I'm left handed. Doc said it'll take 6 freaking months to heal. Ugh.

So there's those two things plus three more strawberries but the worst thing of all was I got a tetanus shot to go along with everything else and that ended up causing some serious pain in my arm (again my left) and I got a fever from the side effects. Yeah, banner weekend at the Leath-Stookey household.

But at least I did have these two great records to listen to.

His self titled album was his debut after disbanding the great Mott The Hoople. Lots of great gems on this record like "Once Bitten Twice Shy". It was funny to listen to this song since I grew up knowing the Great White version. Proof again that 9 out of 10 times, the original is always best.

The second Ian Hunter album that I have came out in 1983 and was his 6th solo release. Not as rocking as his debut, but still an overall solid album. Highlights include the title track (both versions) and "Captain Void n' the Video Jets". A song like the latter makes it more obvious that Joe Elliott from Def Leppard worshipped the guy. Can't say I blame him. I need more of his albums myself.

Ok that's it for the H's. Feels like it took me awhile since so many days were skipped. I need to get back on track. Here are some H bands I need that I don't have any of: Helix ( I don't know why they were the first to come to mind), Merle Haggard, Neil Halstead, Helio Sequence, John Wesley Harding, Joe Henry, Husker Du, Humble Pie, The Hold Steady, and Peter Himmelman. Let me know who I'm forgetting. I'm always forgetting someone good.
