Keith Jarrett- The Koln Concert
I really don't have much I can say about this album. I like it, but you definitely have to be in the mood for it if you aren't a huge fan of piano jazz.
The whole album is just Keith Jarrett masterfully playing the piano. Save for a few applause, the only thing you hear throughout the double album is him making odd noises while he plays. It's pretty interesting for sure. I could be wrong, but I think the whole concert is improvised which would be the reason why there are no song titles.
I bought this record due to word of mouth, and I can't say that it disappoints. I will say though that you really need to be in the mood to listen to this type of music. He obviously has a ton of skill, but yeah, I got bored at times. I'll definitely keep it. I go through phases where I listen to a lot of jazz and sometimes I want a little variety instead of always putting on my Pat Metheny records when ever the itch arises.
