Day 358

Gordon Lightfoot- Gord's Gold

I never understood why Gord doesn't get more credit for being awesome. Maybe its because his name is a little goofy. But, even Bob Dylan said that when he hears a Gordon Lightfoot song he wishes it would never end.

The guy is just an amazing songwriter and I love this double LP. It's got the tunes anyone should recognize like "Sundown", "Carefree Highway" and "If You Could Read My Mind", but my favorite is "Canadian Railroad Trilogy", which I dont' think is a popular tune of his outside of his native Canada. That song is just some great storytelling.

Thanks to a buddy of mine, I got to see Gordon Lightfoot a few years ago. Even though he was in his 70's, he was pretty fantastic. Amazing that his backup band has been with him for 40 years. It was obvious by how tight they were. Definitely worth checking out if you like folk music.
