Days 405-414

Well this took me longer than I planned. But, I did it. 10 Pat Metheny records in a row. Whew!

Kinda funny how I first got into Pat Metheny. Have you ever seen that movie Fandango with Kevin Costner? Well, I'm not gonna get into to it, but definitely worth seeing if you haven't. Anyways, and I'll be vague here, towards the end of the movie is a wedding scene. In the scene, Costner's character asks the band if they know the song, "Fandango". The band says they do and begin to play one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard.

For the longest time, and I blame my immaturity here (I was 12 at this time), I thought the song really was called "Fandango" and it bummed me out that I couldn't find it anywhere except for in this movie.

So anyways, years pass and then one day as an adult, I catch the movie on HBO one day. Remembering how much I loved the movie and how much I loved that song in particular, I watch it again, but this time watch all they way through the end credits to see who does this "Fandango" tune. Turns out the song is actually called "It's For You" on Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays' record As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls.

This was probably around '97 when I finally "discovered" Pat Metheny's music and have been a big fan ever since. Besides these 10 albums I have on vinyl, I also have quite a bit of his albums on CD as well that have unfortunately never seen the light of day on wax. Hopefully one day.

Anyhow here's a rundown of the 10 on vinyl. I'm not going to break them down. I love them all. But please watch the video at the end of post. Maybe you'll get hooked on his music like I did.
